Dr. Zoobia W. Chaudhry is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Director of the Johns Hopkins Obesity Medicine Fellowship. She is nationally recognized for her expertise in the clinical management of obesity, obesity education, and fellowship development.
Dr. Chaudhry earned her MBBS from Allama Iqbal Medical College and completed her Internal Medicine residency training at the University of Iowa. Since joining Johns Hopkins in 2011, she has developed a comprehensive clinical and academic career focused on obesity medicine, medical education, and patient-centered care.
Her clinical work centers on evidence-based obesity management through the Johns Hopkins Healthful Eating, Activity & Weight Program. She has been recognized as a Baltimore Magazine Top Doctor in Weight Management since 2019 and has pioneered innovative models of obesity care, including group-visit programs based on the Diabetes Prevention Program curriculum.
As Director of the Johns Hopkins Obesity Medicine Fellowship, Dr. Chaudhry has played a leading role in developing one of the nation's academic obesity medicine training programs. She oversees fellowship education, curriculum development, trainee assessment, and faculty mentorship. She also serves as Co-Director of the TIME Nutrition & Behavior Change course for medical students and contributes to multiple institutional curriculum and assessment committees.
Dr. Chaudhry's scholarly work focuses on obesity treatment, weight management interventions, obesity education, and metabolic disease. She has authored peer-reviewed publications in journals including the Annals of Internal Medicine, Diabetes Care, and Obesity Reviews. She was lead author of the 2025 publication describing the development and implementation of the Johns Hopkins Obesity Medicine Fellowship, contributing to the growing literature on obesity medicine training.
Nationally, Dr. Chaudhry serves on the Clinician in Training Education Committee of the Obesity Medicine Association and previously served on the Item Writing Committee of the American Board of Obesity Medicine. She is a frequent invited speaker at academic institutions, professional conferences, and continuing medical education programs throughout the United States and internationally.
Through her clinical practice, educational leadership, scholarship, and mentorship, Dr. Chaudhry has established herself as a leading academic obesity medicine physician dedicated to advancing obesity care, improving physician education, and training the next generation of obesity medicine specialists.
