Zara Manuelyan is a gastroenterologist who treats patients with esophageal disorders, including Barrett’s esophagus, gastroesophageal reflux disease, eosinophilic esophagitis and celiac disease. She also performs colon cancer screening. Dr. Manuelyan has expertise in gastrointestinal motility and neurogastroenterology, with a special interest in achalasia and gastrointestinal scleroderma.
After obtaining her medical degree at the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, Dr. Manuelyan completed her residency training in internal medicine at Nassau University Medical Center and a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of Texas Medical Branch School of Medicine. During her fellowship training, Dr. Manuelyan received The Don W. Powell Excellence in Scholarship Award and Marcel & Josephine Patterson prize for outstanding research in gastroenterology. She completed additional training in gastrointestinal motility and neurogastroenterology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Dr. Manuelyan’s research interests include gastrointestinal bleeding risk assessment in pre- and post-left ventricular assist devices, motility disorders and pertinent testing methodologies. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national conferences. She is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association and the American College of Gastroenterology.
