Background
Yingzi Xiong, PH.D, is the Barbara Simerl Rising Professor with the Wilmer Eye Institute's Lions Vision Research and Rehabilitation Center at Johns Hopkins. Xiong's research explores how the human brain learns knowledge, adapts to changes, and rehabilitates after impairments. She seeks answers to questions regarding human vision and hearing from both basic and translational science points of view. Xiong is leading projects that investigate the interaction of senses in real life activities to develop effective training methods, establish tools for clinical and self assessment, and improve accessibility of both digital devices and environments.
Xiong comes to Johns Hopkins from the Department of Psychology at the University of Minnesota, where she led research projects at the Minnesota Laboratory for Low-Vision Research, the Center for Applied and Translational Sensory Science and the Envision Research Institute.
