Background
Tsion Minas, PhD, is a cancer researcher whose work focuses on understanding the molecular features of cancer in populations of African descent. Through the integration of multi-omics, epidemiological, and clinical data, she uncovers risk factors, identifies biomarkers, and deciphers disease mechanisms to improve cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment.
Dr. Minas earned her BS in Biology-Chemistry from Elmira College (2009), followed by an MS in Cancer Biology, Prevention, and Control from Georgetown University and the University of the District of Columbia (2012). She completed her PhD in Tumor Biology at Georgetown University (2016) and a postdoctoral fellowship at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) (2022), specializing in the Integrative Molecular Epidemiology of Cancer. In 2022, she received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar award to teach and conduct cervical cancer research in Ethiopia.
Dr. Minas is committed to expanding the scope of cancer research to ensure findings benefit all populations. Her long-term goal is to strengthen clinical cancer research in Africa while fostering international collaborations to yield scientific discoveries that benefit patients worldwide.
Through her innovative research and global collaborations, Dr. Minas is helping shape a future where precision oncology delivers meaningful solutions for cancer patients worldwide.
