Dr. Desiraju’s research focuses primarily on hemodynamics and pulmonary hypertension. She is the lead neonatologist overseeing the care of infants with congenital diaphragmatic hernia, and has recently implemented a ventilation strategy that has greatly improved outcomes.

She recently revised clinical guidelines for the care of infants with congenital diaphragmatic hernia, and serves as a resource for their preoperative management. Dr. Desiraju is involved in the neonatal nurse practitioner educational program, which focuses on practical clinical physiology. She also teaches medical trainees and participates in the PRECEDE pediatric clerkship educational program.
