Stephanie Nwagwu, MD, MPH

Stephanie Nwagwu is a physician in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Johns Hopkins Medicine. She earned her medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine and a Master of Public Health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She completed residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Dr. Nwagwu’s clinical interests include academic general obstetrics and gynecology, quality improvement, patient safety, labor and delivery operations, and gynecologic surgery. Her scholarly work has focused on postpartum care transitions, health disparities, HPV vaccination, systems-based quality improvement and women’s health outcomes. She has authored peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and scholarly commentary in obstetrics and gynecology.

Dr. Nwagwu is actively involved in medical education, residency leadership and quality improvement initiatives. She served as administrative chief resident and as quality improvement chief resident at Johns Hopkins, where she led educational initiatives in quality improvement and multidisciplinary efforts to enhance obstetric care delivery. She has also demonstrated a long-standing commitment to leadership, diversity and inclusion, and professional service at the institutional and national levels.
