Sidra Zafar, MBBS

Sidra Zafar, M.D., is a co-assistant chief of service and a retina specialist seeing patients at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore. Dr. Zafar’s primary focuses are on ocular trauma and medical and surgical retina treatments, including retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal vascular occlusion, epiretinal membrane and macular hole, among others.

Dr. Zafar graduated from the Aga Khan University in Pakistan. She completed her medical internship at Ascension Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore and her ophthalmology residency training at the Wilmer Eye Institute. She received her vitreoretinal surgery fellowship training at Wills Eye Physicians/Mid Atlantic Retina.

Dr. Zafar’s research centers on improving surgical and clinical outcomes in retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy and endophthalmitis. Leveraging retinal imaging and medical informatics, her work seeks to optimize treatment approaches, surgical management and visual outcomes in these patients.
