Sheera Lerman, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist specializing in Rehabilitation Psychology and is an assistant professor at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.

Dr. Lerman earned her Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Neuropsychology at Ben Gurion University of the Negev in Israel. She completed a two-year research postdoctoral fellowship in chronic pain and sleep disorders at the Department of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University. She went on to complete a two-year clinical fellowship in Rehabilitation Psychology at the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Johns Hopkins University. 

In her clinical work, Dr. Lerman leads the psychology service at the inpatient burn center at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. She specializes in pain management, adjustment to chronic illness, burn injuries and sleep disorders and treats patients in both inpatients and outpatient settings. Through evidence-based interventions, combining cognitive-behavioral and motivational approaches she strives to help individuals during their rehabilitation process and assist them to better manage their medical condition and its effects on their lives.

As a clinician-scientist, Dr. Lerman's research focuses on factors contributing to adjustment to chronic pain and other chronic medical conditions as well as understanding the complex relationship between pain and sleep in a variety of medical conditions. Her research also focuses on predictors of psychological treatment outcomes and the role of sleep and psychological factors on inflammation and wound healing.
