Dr. Woods is a cardiothoracic surgeon in the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Heart Institute in St. Petersburg, Florida. He joined the hospital staff in 2024.
He was previously the surgical director of cardiac transplantation at Children’s Wisconsin in Milwaukee, and a professor of surgery in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Medical College of Wisconsin.
Dr. Woods has published numerous peer-reviewed articles, books and chapters; given many talks regionally, nationally and internationally; and has served as a peer reviewer for many medical journals.
He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He completed a surgical residency at University of Washington Affiliated Hospitals in Seattle, followed by a pediatric surgery fellowship at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. He then completed a thoracic surgery fellowship at University of Washington, followed by a specialty registrar in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London. He also earned his doctoral degree from the University of Illinois.
