His extensive postgraduate training includes a combined residency in oral and maxillofacial and general surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Southern California (USC) Los Angeles General Medical Center. He completed a fellowship in pediatric plastic and craniofacial surgery at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, University of Southern California.

An accomplished researcher and educator, Dr. Shakoori has received multiple honors, including the Warren Louis Garner Research Award from USC’s Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the Clinical and Scientific Achievement in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Award, and the Program Director’s Award from the University of Pennsylvania. His academic contributions include numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and leadership in research areas such as facial nerve regeneration, cleft and craniofacial surgery and microsurgical techniques.
