Dr. Nisha A. Gilotra is a cardiologist in the Johns Hopkins Medicine Division of Cardiology with expertise in advanced heart failure, including the care of heart transplant and ventricular assist device patients. Dr. Gilotra specializes in inflammatory cardiomyopathies, including sarcoidosis, myocarditis and inherited causes of cardiomyopathy.
Dr. Gilotra received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA. She completed her medical residency, general cardiology fellowship and advanced heart failure fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Between fellowships, she served as an Assistant Chief of Service for the Department of Medicine.

- The main focus of Dr. Gilotra's research is understanding the pathophysiology and outcomes in inflammatory cardiomyopathies including myocarditis and sarcoidosis, as well as improvement of heart failure patient care through noninvasive hemodynamic monitoring and studying novel strategies to reduce heart failure hospitalizations. Additional investigations involve clinical research in advanced heart failure therapies including heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support. Dr. Gilotra is the site Principal Investigator for the NIH/NHLBI funded Heart Failure Network trials.

Dr. Nisha Gilotra was excellent! She had reviewed my medical records and procedures since my last visit which included multiple specialities. She let me know that she had been in communication with my Primary MD and Primary Cardiologist and how they reviewed my progress and treatment concerns and next steps so that my care can be monitored, efficient, and cost effective with safe monitoring across my multidisciplinary care team.
