Background

Dr. Nethra Kumar Madurai is a Clinical Associate in the Division of Neonatology, Department of Pediatrics, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She first came to Johns Hopkins as a Pediatric resident in the Harriet Lane Pediatric Residency Program in 2016. She then completed fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital and received the NIH T32 grant as a research fellow during the final year of her fellowship. Her research focuses on investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying neonatal brain injury to better inform treatment and understanding of long-term sequelae. Specifically, her work examines prenatal opioid exposure under the mentorship of Dr. Lauren Jantzie in the hopes of identifying biomarkers to guide treatment and long-term follow-up.
