Dr. Schoenborn earned her M.D. from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in medicine and a fellowship in geriatric medicine and gerontology from Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.
Dr. Schoenborn is nationally and internationally renowned for her research on incorporating patient perspectives and overall health trajectories in individualized decision-making and communication with older patients. Her research has been funded by the National Institute on Aging, the American Cancer Society, the American Geriatrics Society, and the John A. Hartford Foundation. Her research findings have been published in high impact journals such as JAMA Internal Medicine and JAMA Oncology. She was named the Outstanding Junior Investigator of the Year by the American Geriatrics Society in 2019.
