Background
Moon Lee, M.D., is an assistant professor of ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Medicine. Dr. Lee is a fellowship-trained glaucoma and cataract surgeon who specializes in the medical, laser (selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT), YAG laser capsulotomy and laser peripheral iridotomy) and surgical treatment of routine and complex glaucoma. She performs cataract surgery and glaucoma surgery, including both traditional glaucoma surgeries and the broad range of minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries (MIGS).
Dr. Lee earned her bachelor’s degree in biology at Emory University, and received her medical degree from The Johns Hopkins University. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Medicine and glaucoma fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital, after which she joined the glaucoma division at Wilmer.

Research Summary
Dr. Lee's research focuses primarily on aging with vision loss. Her prior work has studied the impact of vision loss on cognition and frailty.
Her long-term interests are to better understand how a patient’s disease affects their cognition and overall function. The goal of this research is to ultimately help improve quality of life and maximize functional ability for glaucoma patients.
Dr. Lee also has an interest in improving surgical outcomes for patients with glaucoma.
