Dr. Ma is an assistant professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She received her medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School and completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Pennsylvania. Following her residency, she performed a fellowship in transplant hepatology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Dr. Ma specializes in liver disorders including alcoholic liver disease, viral hepatitis, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, metabolic liver disorders, as well as the care of patients after liver transplant.
Dr. Ma also has interests in medical education and currently serves as the Associate Program Director of the Gastroenterology Fellowship.

Dr. Ma is very good and very professional. She has a lot of knowledge and is great at connecting it with my test results to provide me with excellent care.

Dr Ma listens really well. She answers questions clearly. When I had a question a few days later, she responded in full, and in clear language. She is a very good communicator. I had an MRI and bloodwork done, and she ordered that so we could discuss it at the appointment.

This was my 2nd visit with Dr Ma. She is an excellent doctor in that she sent me messages clarifying the biopsy results quickly. She was thorough in her explanation of what was going on with my liver and what her recommendations for moving forward. She asked what I wanted to do after explaining possible solutions. Even though I had to drive 5 hrs to drive to and from my appointment I would readily do so again.

Dr. Ma is the best doctor I've ever had. She is kind, compassionate, and highly professional. Her knowledge and intelligence are evident in every interaction. What truly stands out is how promptly she responds to concerns and questions-something that brings great comfort to patients, especially during times of short staffing in the medical field.
