Margaret Birdsong, CRNP

Margaret Birdsong is a pediatric nurse practitioner in the Division of Pediatric Surgery at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, where she has served since 2000. Dr. Birdsong specializes in the management of complex wound, ostomy and continence conditions. She is the primary wound care consultant at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center.

Dr. Birdsong earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing in 2020. She works in the Colorectal Center, and she is experienced in biofeedback therapy, providing specialized care for children with colorectal and continence disorders.

An active educator and speaker, Dr. Birdsong has presented nationally and locally on pediatric surgery, wound and ostomy care, and pediatric continence management. Her clinical and scholarly interests focus on advancing evidence-based care and improving quality of life for children with complex surgical and continence needs.
