Background
Dr. Hagopian is the Program Director of the Neurobehavioral Programs at the Kennedy Krieger Institute and Professor in the Division of Behavioral Biology of the Department of Psychiatry.
The Neurobehavioral Programs serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorders who suffer from severe behavioral dysfunction, including self-injury. These programs draw patients nationally and provide integrated behavior analytic and pharmacologic treatment. Through the delivery of clinical services, conduct of clinical research, provision of professional training, and consultation, the Neurobehavioral Programs have advanced knowledge and practice, and promoted access to behavior analytic services across the US and internationally.
Dr. Hagopian's research is focused on understanding and treating severe behavioral dysfunction in these populations. He has published his research articles in 34 different peer-reviewed behavioral and medical journals and has been awarded several research grants from the National Institutes of Health, which has funded his research since 2004.
Dr. Hagopian is a Fellow of the Association for Behavior Analysis International. He received his Ph.D. from Virginia Tech and completed his Doctoral Internship at the Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
