About Lolita Nidadavolu
Primary Academic Title
Assistant Professor of Medicine
Johns Hopkins Physician
Background
Geriatrician Lolita Nidadavolu has clinical expertise in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of older adults with memory issues and dementia.
After earning medical and doctoral degrees from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Dr. Nidadavolu completed residency training in internal medicine at Brown University and fellowship training in geriatric medicine and gerontology at The Johns Hopkins University, where she also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in translational aging research.
Dr. Nidadavolu studies biological markers that contribute to age-related chronic inflammation, with a focus on circulating cell-free DNA. Her work has shown associations between circulating cell-free DNA and geriatric syndromes, specifically dementia and frailty. Her research also seeks to identify and target pathways that lead to dysfunction in brain-specific immune cells (microglia), which contribute to cognitive impairment and dementia.

Both doctors we saw were excellent. [staff], the fellow, was my other doctor. The person who gave me my cognitive test was also excellent in her care for me.

I thought that my visit went very well. Both the main provider and the Fellow working with her were very well prepared and familiar with my case. They were excellent listeners, they explained things clearly and in detail, and they encouraged questions and answered them helpfully. They also wrote out the steps that I needed to take.

Dr D is a competent and caring professional. She had bad news for us, but she was very sensitive in delivering it. As a caregiver and spouse, I felt I had to probe a bit to get all the answers and information we needed, but again I think that's because my husband didn't qualify for any treatments. It's hard to think of all the questions to ask to get the most complete diagnosis when you are hit with bad news.

Dr. Nidadavolu was competent, warm demeanor , helpful & exhibited excellent follow up. Scheduling booked the wrong type of appt. Not the one requested by our Neurologist in Delaware which was for ""NeuroPsych"" testing & evaluation which is done at the Bayview Campus by [staff].Dr. Nidadavolu tried to salvage the situation after learning we had traveled over 3 hours from Delaware for an incorrectly scheduled appt. She educated us on options & helped to connect us to the correct medical professionals at Johns Hopkins. She went above & beyond to help fix something she did not cause. Simply Outstanding!
