Research Summary

Dr. Fayad's team has developed advanced MRI techniques for the assessment of bone and soft tissue tumors, including diffusion-weighted imaging, dynamic sequences, and metabolic MR imaging.  Her work has been utilized in averting unnecessary biopsies and has aided the diagnosis of malignant conditions in the musculoskeletal system. Her work has led to improvements in tumor characterization, assessment of treatment response, identification of recurrent disease following surgery, and whole-body detection of metastatic disease.  She has applied some of the advanced sequences to other areas of the musculoskeletal system, including peripheral nerve imaging and joint imaging.
