Background

Kurt Lehner is a neurosurgeon with expertise in epilepsy surgery, movement disorders, neuromodulation, neuro-oncology and congenital neurosurgical conditions. He treats both children and adults. For adults with movement disorders, he offers advanced therapies including deep brain stimulation and innovative neuromodulation techniques such as MRI-guided focused ultrasound.

Dr. Lehner earned his medical degree from the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. He completed his residency in neurological surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he also pursued fellowship training in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery as well as pediatric neurosurgery.

His research centers on translational neural engineering and neuroscience. Using high-density neural recordings in both human patients and animal models, Dr. Lehner investigates the mechanisms of neuromodulation and develops brain-computer interface technologies. His work seeks to deepen understanding of motor and cognitive function through high-resolution electrophysiology and to translate these insights into innovative treatments for neurological disorders.
