About Kathleen Mary Hawkins

Background
Dr. Hawkins received her undergraduate degree from Duke University where she also played for the women’s varsity field hockey team. She completed her medical education at Albany Medical College in New York and her Pediatric residency training at Georgetown University Hospital. Following this, she spent an additional two years at Georgetown, first as Pediatric Chief Resident, and then as an attending in the Pediatric department, during which time she was also the director of the pediatric clerkship for the Georgetown third-year medical students. She continues her relationship with Georgetown as Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics.
She has worked as a general pediatrician for over 20 years and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She loves pediatrics because of the relationships she is able to develop with families, from birth through college! Dr. Hawkins was named Top Doctor by the Washingtonian Magazine in 2024 and 2025.
Dr. Hawkins lives in Rockville and in her free time, she enjoys exercising, watching her children play sports, walking the family dog, and gardening.

Kathleen Hawkins is a fabulous doctor. If she was not in the practice however we would consider a different practice.

We absolutely love Dr Hawkins! She is kind and caring and a wonderful clinician. She takes her time, does not rush us during the visit and more then adequately answered all of our questions.

Dr. Hawkins has provided exceptional care for both of our children. She is knowledgeable, empathetic, and consistently goes above and beyond. We trust her completely and have been especially grateful for her responsiveness and thoughtful follow-up, including reaching out personally with test results and reassurance. We're fortunate to have her as our pediatrician.
