Dr. Kartikeya Makker is a neonatologist at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore, Maryland. He diagnoses and treats premature babies and newborns with high-risk or complex health conditions.
Dr. Makker graduated from the Smt. NHL Municipal Medical College. He then completed a residency in pediatrics at the Maimonides Medical Center, and later a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals.

Research Summary
Kartikeya Makker’s research interests include epidemiological and big data research focused on health outcomes in neonates. He leads the JHCC multidisciplinary chronic lung team, and he is active in several quality improvement (QI) projects focused on improving respiratory care of preterm infants.
His research theme is focused on neonatal respiratory diseases and long term cardiometabolic outcomes of preterm infants. Dr. Makker is investigating the role of preterm birth and NICU exposure on the childhood development of insulin resistance, diabetes, obesity and hypertension.
