Background

Julie Marie Miller, M.D., is Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She is an Interventional Cardiologist at The Johns Hopkins University and Hospital, where she performs clinical care, fellow training, clinical research, mentoring and quality improvement throughout the Johns Hopkins Health System. She also serves as Director of the Vascular Cardiology Program and leads the Coronary Angiographic Imaging Center. Dr. Miller is a full-time faculty member at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She clinically specializes in coronary artery disease, cardiac catheterization, complex coronary interventions, and acute myocardial infarction.  

Dr. Miller is internationally recognized for her clinical expertise and currently serves on the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Interventional Cardiology Approval Committee for Board certification and previously served on the ABIM Interventional Cardiology Exam Writing Committee. She has served on national expert consensus-writing committees, co-authoring the Expert Consensus Document for Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories and the Expert Consensus Document for Coronary Computed Tomographic Angiography (CTA). She has also served on other national quality committees including the American College of Cardiology (ACC) National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) Management Board, the ACC-NCDR Cath-PCI Leadership Committee and the American Heart Association Clinical Interventional Cardiovascular Care committees.

She co-founded and is the Executive Director of the Maryland Academic Consortium for Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Appropriateness and Quality, which conducts independent, interventional procedural quality improvement through collaborative peer review and quantitative measures.

Dr. Miller has published extensively in the fields of general and interventional cardiology. She is an accomplished clinical investigator, including leading the pivotal international imaging trial of coronary CTA and conventional angiography.

Dr. Miller graduated cum laude from St. Olaf College, and received her medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School. She trained in internal medicine and completed her fellowship training in cardiology and interventional cardiology at Duke University. She joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 1999.
