Excellent followup care for ankle sprain and fracture as was initial visit

The doctor was 45 minutes late when I was 15 min early. I am not sure why the office thinks that my time is less valuable than the doctor and double books his hours.

Dr. Thompson is an excellent doctor, professional, and makes certain I understand the nuances of the issue. An excellent orthopedist, I selected to return to his care after outstanding orthopedic care provided previously. I trust his advice and expertise and have recommended him to a number of friends and family members.

Unlike another local orthopedic surgeon (not with Johns Hopkins) who would not even consider treating me because of my weight, Dr. John was more flexible and discussed in detail how the surgical procedure would be performed and what the post-operative requirements were and how long they would take. He gave me options and put me at ease.

Just that I arrived on time for a 3:30pmApppintment and didn't see the doctor until 4:40pm.

I don't feel he was engaging or took the time to explain the diagnosis of my son injury and grading it. I asked about follow up and he said it wasn't necessary and he was traveling in January. I asked about my son be cleared to return to sport he said send me a portal message and I will sign whatever you need. Very impersonal.

Dr Thompson who I dealt with during my most recent visit was well informed, and affable we talked about the status of my ankle ; the improvements and continuing discomfort and swelling. Xrays affirmed healing is occurring and we are on the right trajectory. So pleased.

Dr. Thompson is a gifted surgeon and caring physician that truly takes the time to explain everything in a simple manner for me to understand. He's very patient and thorough. An ideal doctor, without question.

It was great

This was the first time I met Dr. Thompson. He seemed caring and professional and stated the two options available to me: one, stay as things are wearing large shoes and dealing with the pain and numbness in my toes and legs or two, have surgery to fuse the bones in my bunions to relieve the pain. I chose option two and am scheduled for surgery on January 22.

Dr.Thompson is a great doctor. I was very sad when happened this accident at work. He gave me the opportunity to believe in myself. I hope my foot will be better every day. He always listen me very carefully and give me recommendations for treatment. Thank you so much.

Dr. Thompson is outstanding. I saw him to obtain second opinion regarding my big toe fusion surgery which I underwent 14 months ago by a different physician. I was seeking his view on potential future revision surgery. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful addressing my concerns and explaining circumstances under which revisions may be necessary. He really put me at ease, decompressed my anxiety by explaining the parameters and outcome of my first surgery and possibility of not needing additional surgical procedure. The discussion with Dr. Thompson was straightforward and made me comfortable with his recommendations.

Dr. Thompson was direct and intentional. He did not have high empathy but told me what I needed to know. He questioned that my PCP ordered an MRI instead of an x-ray, and insinuated it was problematic. If so, he should educate PCPs about ankle/foot injuries.

Provider directed me to not take personal notes during my visit as the after summary notes would suffice. He wanted me to only look at him while he spoke. When I read the after visit summary, the content did not match what actually happened. He did not articulate ice, etc - it was obviously cut and paste.

I left this visit somewhat unclear about the rationale behind the decisions made. I understood it, but I also wondered if I was a professional athlete, would the decision have been the same.

Dr. Thompson is excellent. He's caring, honest and incredibly good at what he does. I'm so thankful to be under his care for a complex injury.

Dr. Thompson is excellent surgeon and very thorough.

Doctor appears very knowledgeable in his expertise. Shows kindness and caring for patients. Suggestion: His ""doctor's bed-side manner"" could be a tad better if he speaks to patients at their eyes level instead of standing up and looking down when talking to patients. Eye-level conversations instill trust and compassion whereas looking-down conversations display absolute authoritativeness and could cause patients to feel awkward.
