Jesse A. Stokum, MD, PhD

Neurosurgical spine instructor Jesse Stokum specializes in all aspects of spine neurosurgery, including degenerative, deformity, trauma and oncology, and he is a peripheral nerve surgeon.

Dr. Stokum earned his medical degree and doctorate in neuroscience at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he also completed residency training in neurosurgery. His clinical fellowship in peripheral nerve surgery was with the Johns Hopkins Department of Neurosurgery.

Dr. Stokum’s research focuses on improved intraoperative diagnostic techniques in peripheral nerve surgery, and on molecular mechanisms and treatment of secondary injury after peripheral nerve injury, stroke and spinal cord injury.
