Dr. Harry A. Quigley is the A. Edward Maumenee Professor of Ophthalmology and developed the Glaucoma Division at the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute. He was a founding member of the American Glaucoma Society, serving for 8 years as its Secretary and was elected to 5 year terms as chief executive officer of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) and editor-in-chief of Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science.
He has published over 350 peer-reviewed articles, and his reports are the most cited in the ophthalmic literature over the last 30 years (Archives of Ophthalmology, 2007). His research has improved the early diagnosis of glaucoma and has developed instruments and techniques to identify glaucoma damage better. He has participated in pioneering studies of the epidemiology, morbidity and progression rate of glaucoma and other eye disease in American, African, Asian and Hispanic populations, serving as a consultant to the World Health Organization. In the laboratory, he has demonstrated successful gene therapy to protect retinal ganglion cells from experimental glaucoma and developed glaucoma models in monkeys, rats and mice.

Dr. Quigley has been treating my glaucoma for approximately 30 years and sadly, this was my last visit with him. He will no longer be seeing patients and will focus on research. We are both of retirement age. Thanks to Dr. Quigley, my glaucoma has remained stable. It has always been a pleasure to be his patient. He has always been thorough, precise and able to translate my condition in terms I can understand.

Extremely easy to talk to and gives information that you can understand. Explains the results of a test. Made suggestions that I feel will be helpful to me. Also, told me to follow up with a doctor I presently see to have an issue that he saw taken care of. Did suggest seeing other doctor at John Hopkins for a different specialty of the eye.Would definitely continue with the provider but distance is an issue.

Dr Harry Quigley has been seeing me on a yearly or semi yearly basis for ore than 20 years since I had an accident to my eye. He has been thorough and throughly pleasant every time. He also takes five minutes to ask what I am reading when I come in. Its always interesting talking with him. I will miss seeing him at Wilmer.

Dr. Quigley has been my Ophthallmologist/Surgeon for over a decade and he has literally saved my eyesight! I had worked for a team of Ophthalmologists in Morgantown, WV and at WVU for about 12 years during the 50-60s and when I began having issues years later I knew I wanted to come to Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Clinic because that is where my previous employers had sent all their difficult patients. It was the best decision I could have made.
