Grace Alexandra Freire, MD

Dr. Freire specializes in pediatric cardiology in the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Heart Institute, evaluating and treating patients with congenital heart disease starting in the womb. She also leads the hospital’s pediatric pulmonary hypertension program, managing patients with pulmonary hypertension from different causes. She is an assistant professor of pediatrics in the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
 
Dr. Freire has experience in advanced procedures, including transthoracic, transesophageal echocardiography and fetal echocardiography. She is actively involved in research and education as a member of the research council at Johns Hopkins All Children’s. She is a member of the Fetal Heart Society. Her research interests include fetal arrhythmia monitoring, fetal hemodynamics and outcomes of treatment of pulmonary hypertension. She has published multiple articles on pediatric echocardiography and fetal cardiology. 
 
Dr. Freire earned her medical degree from Central University of Ecuador. She completed her pediatric residency at Flushing Hospital Medical Center in New York and a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital, Chicago. She held the title of assistant professor at the Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in Missouri. She is a fellow of the American Society of Echocardiograpy, fellow of American College of Cardiology and member of the Pulmonary Hypertension Association Clinicians and Researchers (PHCR) professional network.
