Elizabeth Oluwadamilola Akinsoji, MD, MPH

Elizabeth Akinsoji is a neuro-ophthalmologist and clinician-educator at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Dr. Akinsoji earned her bachelor’s degree in public health studies from The Johns Hopkins University and completed the combined M.D./M.P.H. program at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, followed by neurology residency training at Emory University School of Medicine and fellowship training in neuro-ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts Eye and Ear. She also completed a research fellowship at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, where she studied epilepsy and mesial temporal sclerosis.

Dr. Akinsoji’s academic interests include neuro-ophthalmology education, curriculum development and patient education. She is passionate about making neuro-ophthalmology more accessible to both trainees and patients through innovative educational resources and patient-centered care.

Dr. Akinsoji's research interests include medical education, educational technology, patient education, and health equity, with a particular focus on neuro-ophthalmology.

Dr. Akinsoji’s scholarly interests include medical education, particularly within neuro-ophthalmology. She is interested in developing educational resources and practical teaching tools that support trainees learning complex neuro-ophthalmic concepts and clinical decision-making. Dr. Akinsoji’s previous research has included epilepsy, health disparities in neurology and educational approaches for learners at different stages of training. She is also interested in improving patient education and helping patients better understand their conditions.
