Eboni I. Lance I, MD, PhD

Pediatric neurologist Eboni Lance is a neurodevelopmental disabilities specialist at Johns Hopkins Medicine and Kennedy Krieger Institute. She serves as the medical director of the Kennedy Krieger Institute Sickle Cell Disease Neurodevelopmental Clinic and Research Center. Dr. Lance specializes in the diagnosis and management of neurodevelopmental and neurologic conditions, including attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learning disabilities, developmental delay, intellectual disability, hearing and vestibular disorders, and the neurological complications of sickle cell disease. Her clinical practice is focused on improving outcomes for children and adults with sickle cell disease through comprehensive, multidisciplinary care.

Dr. Lance earned her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed her pediatrics internship and residency at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles before pursuing specialized training in neurodevelopmental disabilities at Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins Medicine. She later earned a doctorate in clinical investigation from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

A nationally recognized clinician-scientist, Dr. Lance’s research focuses on neurodevelopmental disorders and brain injury in pediatric sickle cell disease. Her work examines the clinical, neuroimaging and biomarker characteristics of children with sickle cell disease, with the goal of identifying those at greatest risk for neurological injury and developmental challenges. She has served as principal investigator on multiple NIH- and foundation-funded studies, including research investigating neuroimaging and neurocognitive markers of brain injury in young children with sickle cell disease.
