Desiree Rivera-Nieves, MD

Dr. Rivera-Nieves specializes in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition in the Department of Medicine. She sees patients on our main campus in St. Petersburg and at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Outpatient Care, Sarasota. She joined the medical staff in 2020.

Dr. Rivera-Nieves earned her medical degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in Jalisco, Mexico. She completed a pre-internship medical program at New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. She then completed a family medicine internship from Vidant Medical Center, East Carolina University/Brody School of Medicine in Greenville, North Carolina, followed by a pediatric residency in general pediatrics from Vidant Medical Center, East Carolina University/Brody School of Medicine. Dr. Rivera-Nieves also completed a pediatric gastroenterology fellowship from Orlando Health, Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children/University of Florida in Orlando, Florida.
