About David Wolinsky
Primary Academic Title
Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
Johns Hopkins Physician
Background
David Wolinsky was raised in the Chicago suburbs and stayed around the area to attend undergraduate and medical school at Northwestern University. Between these two programs, he spent two years in Bethesda at the NIH vaccine research center (VRC) studying immunology and working on projects related to HIV vaccine development as part of his post baccalaureate research fellowship. David followed his passion for psychiatry to the University of Michigan for a psychiatry residency, where he was exposed to a diverse patient population across a wide variety of clinical settings. With an interest in enhancing his own capacity for diagnosing and treating Substance Use Disorders, as well as developing research related to the pathogenesis of addiction and new treatment modalities, he pursued a fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry at the University of Michigan. David is excited to return to Maryland to work at Johns Hopkins Hospital on its Addiction Consultation service as well as the Intensive Treatment Unit and Motivated Behavior Units. Additionally, he is participating in research focusing on the evaluation and management of Cannabis Use Disorder and Cannabis Withdrawal Syndrome at the Behavioral Pharmacology Research Unit (BPRU).
