Johns Hopkins gastroenterologist David Muñiz Pedrogo is a physician-scientist who specializes in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). He sees patients who have ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease.
A graduate of the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, Dr. Muñiz Pedrogo completed an internship and residency training in internal medicine at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he remained for fellowship training in gastroenterology and hepatology. He obtained advanced fellowship training in inflammatory bowel disease at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.
Dr. Muñiz Pedrogo is the assistant director of the IBD clinical trials unit at Johns Hopkins. His research focuses on improving precision medicine for treatment of IBD by understanding the role of the immune system and gut microbiome in predicting response to various therapies and in predicting other clinical outcomes.

Dr. Muniz was excellent. He asked the right questions thereby identifying my health issues. I felt confident he was knowledgeable and knew what he was doing. I just wish I was able to see him sooner because I would probably choose him permanently as my gastroenterologist.
