Dana Lee Lewis, DO

Dana Lewis is a gynecologic oncologist and assistant professor in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, and completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Georgetown University/MedStar Health. She completed fellowship training in gynecologic oncology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Dr. Lewis’ clinical and research interests are focused on health equity and reducing disparities in treatment access, timeliness and cancer outcomes in women with gynecologic malignancies. Her other research interests include cancer prevention and ovarian cancer risk reduction, HPV-related disease, and surgical education of residents and fellows. Her scholarly work has focused on the impact of social determinants of health on cancer treatment and outcomes, implementation of social needs screening programs, opportunistic salpingectomy and strategies to improve access to timely gynecologic cancer care. She has also contributed to clinical research involving therapeutic HPV vaccines and cervical cancer prevention initiatives. Dr. Lewis has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in gynecologic oncology.

Actively involved in medical education, curriculum development and quality improvement initiatives, Dr. Lewis has worked to standardize perioperative care, improve hereditary cancer risk assessment and referral processes, and enhance patient-centered care for women with gynecologic cancers. She has also contributed to education initiatives at the national level through service with the Society of Gynecologic Oncology.
