About Craig K. Jones

Background

Craig Jones is interested in medical image processing and the creation and application of computer science to medical imaging.

Dr. Jones began his career in Magnetic Resonance Imaging and created automated algorithms for MS lesion segmentation. His degree work focused on extending numerical optimization algorithms for myelin water quantification from MRI images. Later, he worked on the creation of CEST MRI pulse sequences and the fitting of the data to quantify glycogen and amid protons. He also worked for a short time at the Space Telescope Science Institute creating and implementing image processing algorithms for Hubble and James Webb Space Telescope images.

His current work is in artificial intelligence and neural network image processing of MRI, CT, OCT datasets (both 2D and 3D), and Ultrasound with classification, regression, anomaly detection, and segmentation projects.

He is on the JHU PMAP Imaging and Data Science Sub-Committees.

Dr. Jones holds a BSc in Computer Science and Mathematics from Simon Fraser University (Burnaby, BC, Canada), and MSc in Medical Biophysics from the University of Western Ontario (London, Ontario, Canada) and a PhD in Physics from the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, BC, Canada).
