Background

Chuan-Hsiang Bear Huang received his M.D. from National Taiwan University and completed two years of residency in internal medicine before earning his Ph.D. in the Graduate Program in Immunology at Johns Hopkins University, where he solved the structure of a PI3K protein, one of the most important drivers of cancer. His current research focuses on the dynamics, structure, and function of signaling networks in cellular processes and disease, particularly RTK-Ras-PI3K signaling in cancer. His lab develops tools to enable highly multiplexed tracking of these signaling networks in live cells. Dr. Huang’s research has been published in Science, Nature Cell Biology, Nature Communications, and Cell, among others. He has received numerous awards, including a Silver Medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad, a Damon Runyon Fellowship, the Nancy M. Nath Teaching Award, the Ed and Myrna Pigo Research Award, and the Lya and Harrison Latta Research Award.

  • Our lab is interested in understanding the fundamental mechanisms of how cells move and implications in disease treatment. We use an interdisciplinary approach involving fluorescent live cell imaging, genetics, and computer modeling to study the systems level properties of the biochemical networks that drive cell migration.
