Bax earned her medical degree from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, where she spent an additional year researching bullous and connective tissue diseases. She completed residency training in dermatology at Stanford University, and served as chief resident during her final year. While at Stanford, Dr. Bax studied dermatomyositis, and completed a clinical research elective in rheumatology at the Myositis Center at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. She has published over 40 papers in high-impact journals, including Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Journal of Investigative Dermatology and the New England Journal of Medicine.
