Dr. Marvel's current research focuses on the neurological consequences of chronic conditions, including those associated with infections, such as Lyme disease and Long COVID. She also has a longstanding interest in cerebellar ataxia. Her past research has included the study of HIV, substance dependence, and schizophrenia. Her primary research methods include brain imaging (e.g., task-based functional and real-time MRI), brain stimulation (e.g., Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation), and experimental cognitive paradigms to study learning, memory, and behavior.
