Cemile Gunalp, M.D., is an instructor in the Johns Hopkins Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. Her areas of clinical expertise include general gynecology and obstetrics, labor and delivery, gynecologic surgery, abnormal menses, ovulation induction, polycystic ovarian syndrome, infertility, pediatric and adolescent gynecology.
Dr. Gunalp received an undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Washington in Seattle. She then earned her M.D. from Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University, and she completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Vermont Medical Center.
Her research interests include studying thrombotic risk and possible correlation with in vitro fertilization cycle outcomes, assessing the estrogenic effect on the cholinergic system and on cognition in postmenopausal women. Dr. Gunalp was nominated for the 2022 Clinical Resident of the Year Award and has received multiple teaching awards, including Outstanding Medical Educator in 2021 and a Teacher and Student Advocate Award in 2020 from the Larner College of Medicine.
