Carlo Iomini, PhD

Dr. Carlo Iomini, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and Cell Biology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His laboratory is also part of the Center for Cell Dynamics at the Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Iomini's research focuses on elucidating molecular networks controlling the morphogenesis, homeostasis, and repair of the anterior segment and ocular adnexa tissues, relevant to ocular conditions, including anterior segment dysgenesis, congenital glaucoma, myopia, and dry eye disease.

Dr. Iomini received his undergraduate degree (Laurea) in Cell and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Milan, Italy, and his Ph.D. in Molecular Cell Biology from the National Museum of Natural History in Paris, France. He then completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Cell Biology and Genetics at Washington University in St. Louis and in Cell, Development, and Regenerative Biology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, where he joined the faculty as a Research Assistant Professor in 2007 and became an Assistant Professor in 2012. Dr. Iomini joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2019.

Dr. Iomini is a member of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) since 2010.
