Background
Byoung Chol Oh is an assistant professor of plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He focuses his research on transplant immunology and is the co-director of the Vascularized Composite Allotransplantation Research Laboratory.
Dr. Oh received a doctorate of veterinary medicine in 2001 at Seoul National University in Seoul, Korea, where he also earned a master’s degree and a PhD in Immunology in 2009. Prior to joining the faculty at Johns Hopkins, he was a post-doctoral fellow in the Emory Transplant Center at Emory University.

Major research interest is transplant immunology to understand immune reaction against non-self and to induce tolerance and avoid maintenance immunosuppressive regimens that cause various side effects, especially in condition of vascularized composite tissue and solid organ transplantation as well.
