Bre McKinnon, DNP, MPH

Breana (Bre) McKinnon is an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner specializing in Neuroscience Critical Care at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. She earned both her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and a Clinical Nurse Specialist, and Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.

With a decade of experience in critical care, Bre has worked extensively in Neurocritical Care, Neurotrauma, and Multitrauma units.

Bre is also actively engaged in ongoing global health initiatives. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she served as a Biocontainment Lead at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Currently, she is leading the development of an international observership program designed to support Korean Nurse Practitioners as they establish the NP role in their home institution’s intensive care unit.

Fun Fact: Outside of the hospital, Bre is an avid rock climber and seasoned traveler, having explored over 30 countries.
