Dr. Bernadette Wharton-Hawthorne is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine for the Johns Hopkins Eating Disorders Program. Dr. Wharton-Hawthorne provides individual and family therapy for adults and adolescents diagnosed with eating disorders and conducts outpatient eating disorder consultations in addition to attending on the inpatient service.
Her research interests include evaluating the impact of socioeconomic status on eating disorder presentation, diagnosis, and treatment, as well as disparities in access to care and the intersection of cultural, economic, and clinical factors in shaping patient experiences.
Dr. Wharton-Hawthorne received her undergraduate degree in neurobiology and global health and health policy from Harvard University. She earned her M.D. from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and completed her residency training in psychiatry at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.
