Background
Ashley Ruhomutally, DMS, PA-C, joined the Center for Transgender and Gender Expansive Health in 2025 with four years of experience as a provider—two in neurosurgery and reconstructive plastic surgery and two in urgent care.
As a member of the Sexual and Gender Minority (SGM) community, Ashley has been dedicated to serving her community since her undergraduate years. She earned a Bachelor of Public Health Science from the University of Maryland in 2018, where her thesis focused on SGM health disparities and their causes.
During graduate school at Shenandoah University, Ashley collaborated with the Director of Diversity and Inclusion to develop an educational lecture for health professional students on SGM health and related disparities. She went on to earn a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies in 2020 and a Doctor of Medical Science in 2024, both from Shenandoah University. Her capstone projects focused on SGM health education, including designing continuing medical education modules and implementing inclusive, comprehensive intake tools for new patients.
