About Andy Pekosz
Background
Dr. Pekosz received his BS in Biochemistry from Rutgers University and a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania. He was recruited to Johns Hopkins University in 2007, after spending 7 years on the faculty at the Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine. He studies respiratory virus replication, fitness, and escape from neutralizing antibodies. Using primary respiratory epithelial cell culture systems and both clinical and engineered viruses, his research has demonstrated that virus replication fitness and escape from immunity are often intertwined properties that must be balanced for optimal virus success in circulation.
