Background

Dr. Andrew B. Wolff is an orthopaedic surgeon at Sibley Memorial Hospital. He practices out of Washington Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, located in Sibley Memorial Hospital’s Medical Building and Washington, D.C. .

Dr. Wolff has an internationally recognized expertise in hip arthroscopy and preservation. He lectures at both national and international meetings, as well as publishes peer-reviewed research about hip preservation procedures, best practices and how to achieve best results. He is involved with ongoing research projects as well. 

Dr. Wolff earned his undergraduate degree from Amherst College and his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital and a fellowship in sports medicine and hip, knee and shoulder at Steadman Hawkins Clinic.

Dr. Wolff is the Washington, D.C. representative of the Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee and of the Board of Councilors for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Previously, he has held the positions of president, vice president and treasurer of the Washington Orthopaedic Society. Dr. Wolff is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, as well as a member of the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy, the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He has been awarded the Associate Master Hip Arthroscopy Instructor title by the Arthroscopy Association for North American Orthopaedic Learning Center and the Outstanding Contributions to Sports Medicine Fellowship by the Uniformed Services University. 

Dr. Wolff is the vice-president of the Multi-Center Arthroscopic of the Hip Study Group. He has developed techniques and instrumentation that makes hip arthroscopy treatment easier, safe and more reliable. Dr. Wolff is also a consultant review of current research for the American Journal of Sports Medicine and the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has contributed to numerous publications and preservations in the field, earning him the Arthroscopy Association of North America Clinical Fellow Essay Award and the Merck Manual Award “For scholastic achievement in medical studies.”
