Dr. Alisha Ware attended Howard University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She then earned her Medical Degree at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Dr. Ware has been a driving force in the department, helping to establish and lead our wellness initiatives. She currently serves as our department's Deputy Director for Community Well-being and Engagement, as well as the advisor for the Pathology Resident Wellness Committee, and she works to promote well-being through department-wide initiatives. She has published on the Department’s wellness efforts and our diversity efforts, and, as a result, her work has served as a model for other institutions to follow.  Dr. Ware is also an impactful educator, serving as an active member of the Department of Pathology’s Educational Advisory Committee. She is active clinically on our hematopathology service and is the Director of the Hematopathology Fellowship Program.
