Alex Norton, MD, MPH

Alex Norton is a physician in the Division of General Gynecology and Obstetrics. She earned her medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and a Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She completed residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Duke University School of Medicine.

Norton’s clinical and research interests include global women’s health, reproductive health in humanitarian settings, health equity and care for vulnerable populations. Her scholarly work has focused on sexual and reproductive health in conflict and crisis settings, immigrant and refugee health, education on caring for patients with female genital cutting, and disparities in obstetric care. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications related to humanitarian health, reproductive justice and maternal health outcomes.

Norton is the associate director of women’s health at the HEAL Refugee Health & Asylum Collaborative, and she is faculty in the Center for Humanitarian Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is actively involved in medical education and advocacy initiatives focused on refugee and immigrant health, care for patients with female genital cutting, and health equity.
