Dr. Mohammad E. Allaf is a globally recognized healthcare executive, surgeon, and pioneer in urologic innovation who serves as the Jakurski Family Director of the Brady Urological Institute — the world’s preeminent department of urology and the birthplace of many of the most important advances in the field. As Director and Urologist-in-Chief for The Johns Hopkins Hospital, he oversees more than 35 exceptional faculty physicians and researchers delivering comprehensive subspecialty care in urologic oncology, pediatric urology, complex reconstruction, kidney stone disease, men’s health, and benign prostatic conditions. 

A foremost expert in prostate cancer, Dr. Allaf has performed more than 4,000 robotic radical prostatectomies — placing him among the highest-volume surgeons globally. His academic contributions include more than 350 peer-reviewed publications that have shaped modern standards in minimally invasive urologic oncology and informed clinical guidelines worldwide. For his leadership and transformative impact, he has been elected to the most prestigious honor societies in urology, including the American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons and the Clinical Society of Genitourinary Surgeons — the latter of which limits membership to only 25 active members and recognizes the most influential urologists in the world. 

Dr. Allaf has led a strategic evolution of the Brady Urological Institute, expanding its reach across Maryland, Washington, D.C., and multiple regional locations — bringing groundbreaking care closer to the patients who need it most. Internationally, he has built and continues to oversee high-impact global initiatives, including the robotic surgery program and Prostate Cancer Center of Excellence at Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare in Saudi Arabia. His surgical expertise has been sought across multiple continents, where he has operated and collaborated to elevate the global standard of urologic care.
