About Marios Arvanitis

Primary Academic Title

Assistant Professor of Medicine

Background

Marios Arvanitis is a cardiologist in Baltimore, Maryland. He also serves as an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Biomedical Engineering at the Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Arvanitis completed his medical training in Athens, Greece in 2012 and moved to the United States to pursue his desire to become a physician scientist. He worked for 2 years as a postdoctoral research fellow at Brown University where he studied the pathogenesis, immune mechanisms and diagnosis of infectious diseases. He then went on to complete his internship and residency at Boston Medical Center before moving to Johns Hopkins University for his fellowship training in cardiovascular disease. His research interests span computational and wet lab approaches to study vascular genetics. His research program in vascular genetics incorporates novel high-throughput sequencing approaches, new methods to analyze and integrate multi-omic data, CRISPR genome editing technologies, and in vitro and in vivo models of vascular development and disease.
