Dr. Wigley received his M.D. degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency at Johns Hopkins where he also trained in a postdoctoral fellowship program. Dr. Wigley is a physician-scientist whose specialty is Raynaud’s phenomenon and scleroderma. He founded The Johns Hopkins Scleroderma Center with Robert A. Wise, M.D., of the Johns Hopkins Division of Pulmonary Medicine. Dr. Wigley has been honored with two American College of Rheumatology awards over the past couple years. He received the ACR Distinguished Clinician Scholar Award in 2009 and the ACR Masters Award in 2011.

- The Frederick Wigley Lab is interested in the signs, symptoms and causes of scleroderma. We are testing new treatments for RaynaudÕs phenomenon and scleroderma. Understanding the treatment approach to Raynaud's phenomenon and associated ischemia and how to prevent digital ulcers is important for clinicians caring for these patients. Work in our lab has provided guidance in the management of Raynaud's phenomenon and digital ischemic ulcers, including options for the practical pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic interventions.
Research Summary
Dr. Wigley’s research focuses on the events that cause scleroderma and on the signs and symptoms of scleroderma. He is testing new treatments for Raynaud’s phenomenon and scleroderma.

I have been a patient of Dr. Wigley for over 20 years. I have to travel some distance to attend an office visit with him. He is very thorough in his questioning and physical examination. The same for his explanations. He definitely listens to me. He also explains the bases for any future testing that he orderse.

Dr. Fredrick Wigley is the most compassionate, caring, knowledgeable, concerned doctor I have ever gone to. He is the absolute best doctor!! He always responds to my texts through mychart within approximately 12 hours, he always shares test results with me instead of having a nurse do it, and is very thorough during an office visit. I have been a patient of Dr. Wigley for over 20 years. Also, I live out of state and have to travel a distance to get to the JH facility at the Eastern Ave location. I would not continue a patient relationship with Dr. Wigley if I wasn't pleased with him as my MD.
